What is the most important factor in promoting and sustaining a healthy body? Is it vitamins and supplements or a diet based on fresh produce? Is it having a certain amount of exercise? Or could it be more simple than that? How does one's attitude impact upon one's health?
What is respect? The dictionary reveals several different meanings, revolving around the showing of esteem, deferential regard, appreciation, acknowledgement, to give reference to, to show consideration and to avoid violation of or interference with others, rules or things. To me, the deeper and most important meaning of respect is that of being charitable; to truly display respect one must essentially be charitable. How can you show respect without also being benevolent towards humanity, without showing forbearance in judging others?
It is widely reported that the Japanese are the most long lived community in the world. 2006 statistics published by the Japanese Government point to the fact that there were 1.15 million people living in Japan aged over 90 years, 29,000 of whom were over 100. It is feared, however, that Western influences will have the effect of shortening their life expectancy; and there is good reason to do so.
I have worked as a practicing hypnotherapist for 20 years, assisting in the treatment of anything which has a psychological component. There is thus an extremely wide scope to the things to which hypnosis can lend a helping hand. I am trained as an analytical therapist and the focus in this type of therapy is upon seeking the underlying cause of a current effect, or symptom. Clearly this type of therapy doesn't lend itself to a self-hypnotic recording; analysis with the help of a trained therapist is what is required. There is however a lot of "stuff" which does respond wonderfully well to a recorded self-hypnotic session and in this case that recording may actually be MORE powerful and MORE effective than seeking an individual session with a therapist.
When something isn't working and you want it to work (no matter what that something is) a scientist would set aside all previous assumptions and start afresh. Every successful scientist knows that this is the way to go. All of the many great discoveries have been made as a result of a willingness to NOT to right. In order to rediscover each other, and to rediscover mutual respect and happiness, you have to first question what might happen if everything you thought was wrong might in fact be right?
I recall reading an article in the UK press about the revenge taken by a "woman scorned". Her response to her husband's affair was very dramatic to say the least; she cut the legs and arms off all of his suits and then set about distributing the contents of his celebrated wine cellar around the village in which they lived - one or two bottles on each and every doorstep, together with their morning milk delivery! Quite inventive. And then I'm sure we all read about the case of a certain man whose furious wife decided that cutting legs off suits simply wasn't enough and took a knife to his manhood instead. I subsequently read that he turned this to his advantage by becoming a porn star; Apparently so many people wanted to see his "wotsit", he not only had it sewn back on again, he had a couple of inches added aswell!
People use the term soul mate in ways which can give it different meanings. For some, a soul mate is a person who they feel incredibly close to, or have a deep affinity with. For others it means a person who they have shared a past life with, in which case one may have several soul mates with whom you have shared different past lives. For many people they simply yearn to meet their one true love in this life, and wonder how they can optimize their chances of attracting this soul mate.
Anxieties and fears are to most of us like blemishes which we are slightly ashamed of and therefore we do our best to cover them up. Well, that's how it used to be. I have to marvel at how times have changed. There has been a tidal wave of people "coming out" about one thing or another. A realization seems to have hit the world - that there is no one correct interpretation of what is normal, right or good. We each are individuals and as such we differ in our own unique ways, whilst at the same time understanding that we are all human beings traversing this life on a learning curve which is both parallel and intertwining.
